A development of 215 new homes on a complex site at the edge of Reading town centre, surrounded by a diverse mix of residential, commercial and industrial uses.
DHA developed a carefully considered design response to manage the relationship between the new development and its varied neighbours, which include existing two-storey homes, a superstore, light industrial units and a busy main road.
The scheme transitions in scale across the site, from six-storey apartment buildings with a raised landscaped amenity deck to traditional two-storey houses, creating an appropriate relationship with the surrounding context while making effective use of this well-connected location.
DHA also produced a fully photorealistic fly-through of the proposals, providing an effective tool for communicating the design during the planning process and subsequently supporting the marketing of the development.
