A development of 286 new homes, providing a broad mix of housing from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom detached family homes.
The site presented a number of complex design challenges, including noise from the adjacent railway and neighbouring industrial uses, underground services, an existing public right of way and clearly defined housing mix requirements.
DHA developed a masterplan that responded creatively to these constraints. A distinctive zig-zag arrangement of apartments along the southern boundary provides an acoustic buffer, helping to protect the wider development from noise generated by the railway and industrial uses beyond.
The resulting scheme successfully balances the site's technical and planning requirements with the creation of an attractive, well-connected neighbourhood, providing strong links to surrounding services and extensive areas of parkland.
