A development of 124 new homes close to Aldershot town centre, incorporating one of the country's early examples of a woonerf-inspired approach to residential street design.
The shared-space concept represented a relatively new approach at the time and required close engagement with both the local authority and community to demonstrate how it could create an attractive, pedestrian-friendly residential environment.
Overlooking a public park and adjacent to a conservation area, the architecture draws inspiration from the character and detailing of the surrounding historic buildings, helping the new development respond sensitively to its established context.
The site's relationship with a neighbouring skate park also required careful consideration, with noise mitigation forming an important part of the design response.
